New Camera

September 5th, 2008 12:04 am by Randy · 3 Comments ·

I’ve finally acquired a camera. To celebrate, Angelika, Dylan and myself did a little road trip last weekend - just as far as Brigus.

Every time we’d stop along the way, Dylan would head straight for the water - and I’m told he’s not a Newfie!

Lighthouses

So, where do you go with the camera when you haven’t been out for a while? Cape Spear of course. I had Angus with me and the digital rebel with a bad battery. It did not make for a good combo as every time I turned the camera on Angus got stopped to pose for pictures and the camera battery died a little more. At the end of it all Angus posed for about 60 pictures and I got to take 12 before the battery went dead. So here are 2 of them: crw_1693_580px.jpg crw_1694_580px.jpg

Where is everyone?

August 6th, 2008 5:50 pm by Bev · 2 Comments ·

I am tired of looking at my campfire, Randy, Mike, Andreau are you out there?  I have not been out shooting for a while but I dug this one up from June.  I have no idea how it will look as I have been playing with some Photoshop actions that Randy emailed me ages ago.  So here it goes!

Back from Camp

I have finally dug out from camp gear and decided to post these before I forget.  I took these pictures when I went camping with my Girl Guides at Butterpot.

Grandparents

OK… I am not really a big fan of taking “people” pictures. Mostly cause people suck.
But I got a couple of good ones of my grandparents when I was home, and I thought I would share them.

Thanks for reading. All three of you. HAHA

A new beginning

June 11th, 2008 10:46 pm by Randy · 6 Comments ·

Over the last few weeks and months there’s been a tremendous amount of turmoil and change for me - it had in fact gotten to the point where I’d questioned my resolve to continue as geek number one.

However, I’m very happy to say that, with the help and company of a new friend, I was able to get out shooting on Wednesday. I hope this is the first of many trips we take together.

Should I dare say it…SPRING!

May 22nd, 2008 7:01 pm by Bev · 2 Comments ·

Despite the icebergs that are still looming off the coast we have managed to pull off a couple of good days.  Imagine no snow fell on May 24th.  Well here is probably my last shot of an iceberg and my first of many sunny days (cross your fingers) as we dive into Spring.

Remote Shutter for Canon SLR’s

May 8th, 2008 8:55 pm by Mike · 3 Comments ·

— Warning… Geeky Camara Tech post —

Well I finially made my remote shutter for my Canon XT. Sure, I could have ordered one from China for 99 cents.. but where is the fun in that??

This is super easy to make and includes a shutter button, AF button and Shutter Switch for blub mode. This makes all night photos pretty much shake free (depending on your tripod of course)

Materials -
Stereo Switch (2.5)
Wire
Soldering Iron
Solder
2 Buttons
1 one way switch
Old can or some kind of container
Electrical Tape

The camaras funtions actually work by shorting the ground off the left and right channels. So you can play around with shorting the connections to see which channel does what to the camara. You will soon find out that shorting one triggers the AF and the other triggers the shutter button.

Now just follow this advanced schematics I did to solder your connections together!!

So thats it. Just make sure only the right connections are touching and you should be in business. The following picture is the one I made, and is actually taking that picture!

Give it a shot.
