After having a day or two of merely moderate weather for photography, we stumbled upon The Butterfly Conservatory just north of Niagara Falls. I had shot only a few dozen pictures to that point, so when Angelika spotted a road sign for the attraction, I welcomed the chance to visit perhaps more than I otherwise would have.

Hey,
Just used CS3 for the first time - and boy does it kick ass.
I mainly got it becasue I heard great things about the photomerge program thats in it. Great improvment from the one in CS2.
Here are a few pano’s from Italy.
Venice, Rome, and Cinque Terra.

A few more shots from the recent weekend trip. After an early morning start, we took a run down to Niagara Falls from Toronto.

As you can see, Angelika shoots with a Nikon. Note; this is the first time that the word Nikon has appeared in this blog.

That’s right, I have been missing in action here at Fotogeeks. I did manage to go on the foggy excursion to Cape Race and even took a dozen pictures, some of which I may share here later. First I have to get them off my camera!! I have been busy, along with one of the other geeks (Geek #1 - who in my geek orderology is Randy), putting in all extra time on home renovations. Windows and siding is the job and it is going a little slow, as evenings, with the 1000w halogen lights lighting our way, and weekends is not a lot of time for 2 and sometimes 3 guys working on a 2 story house!! Here is a picture of some of the carnage going on -

As you may be able to see, we are now at the side and working our way the the front of the house. Should be lots of fun…. oh yea, we skipped the back porch and will be ending the project on that!
I will post a few pictures from Cape Race after all the above mess is done!!

I was going to do another Cinque Terra post, but I just found out that Lightroom screwed my export and I have to edit all of the photos again… thanks Lightroom.
So anyway here are shots of Rome by night!

Well… I been to a good few countries now - and drifted away from the big cities to explore some of the small town. And there are not many places I have seen that can match the beauty of the Cingue Terra in the North West of Italy.
The Cinque Terra is made up of 5 small towns spread out over 15KM that you can hike directly through.
Every turn is breath taking. So if your like me and get that traveling itch - Go to the Cinque Terra, Italy… You wont regret it.
Mike
P.S The last shot is taken from our room window… The beauty and coolness are upped due to the fact that I used the best lens in the world.. The Peleng!!!

We did the first road trip of the summer this past Saturday. Although Bev was not able to make it, Andreau, Mike, myself and Mike’s friend, Geoff were able to go.
That is Mike, a fairly enthusiastic fellow. He had just returned from photographing the wonders of Venice and Rome during his honeymoon, but was still looking forward to a road trip to the Cape Race Lighthouse. Even the fog didn’t effect his spirits - he disappeared right after this shot and returned 20 minutes later, feet soaking wet.
And that’s Mike’s friend, Geoff. Much like Mike, Geoff is enthusiastic when it comes to photography. And much like Andreau, he seems to be quite up on what’s coming next in terms of camera equipment.
Luckily, while the geeks were largely concerning themselves with road debris encountered at high speed, Geoff was spotting wildlife. Being equipped only with a 18-55mm, I was unable to get a good shot of the moose lurking a few hundred feet off the highway (or a few dozen metres, for you Europeans). I’m sure you’ll soon see the wildlife around here…

I took only 35 pictures during this trip, due perhaps to the fact that much of the time was spent driving to the goal, which annoyingly was enveloped in fog. On the return trip, we stopped only one time with good light, and just long enough for me to shoot the hell out of some little bits of crap (below).
